marinara sauce

I love fresh tomatoes and when they arrive in my weekly Produce Farmers Direct box I know I’m going to make marinara sauce!!!!

Marinara Sauce Recipe

  • 2 Tbs olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion, chopped
  • 5-7 large tomatoes, chopped and seeded
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp fresh basil, chopped

  1. Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium high heat
  2. Add onions, cook about 5 minutes
  3. Mix in tomatoes and garlic and salt and pepper
  4. Cook until tomatoes soften up and mixture is bubbly
  5. Add in basil
  6. Cook an additional 5 minutes
  7. I used this for pasta sauce served with shrimp, and to dip toasted raviolis, and for the sauce for stuffed peppers!

So - a little about me. I'm Jane Frank, and I love to cook! I am a self taught cook, and very very much enjoy experimenting with new foods and cooking with fresh produce. I'm a widow, with a 16 year old daughter. She's a bit of a foodie, too, and she helps me cook and taste - and give her opinion! She takes a lot of my pictures for me - as my hands are full most of the time. Or else they are too dirty to pick up the camera! Enjoy the blog, please give feedback, and give me some hints about what you'd like to see on here! Happy Cooking!
