BLTFresh tomatoes are the best, when they arrive in my weekly Produce Farmers Direct box, I’m thrilled!

And truly, a “recipe” for BLT sounds stupid, right?  But it’s not.  It’s all about the toasted bread, extra crispy bacon and fresh tomatoes!

Toasted BLT Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of fresh bread (any kind of bread as long as it's very fresh)
  • mayonnaise of your choosing - I used Duke's!
  • fresh tomatoes, sliced very thin
  • lettuce pieces of your choosing, I used a mix of spinach and baby lettuces
  • extra crispy bacon - I cooked mine in oven to make it extra crisp

Instructions

  1. Toast bread very lightly, to just brown
  2. Remove from toaster, spread very thin layer of mayo on each slice of bread
  3. Place lettuce on all pieces of bread to cover
  4. Place tomatoes on top (Reason for putting lettuce on first as it protects the bread from getting soggy from the tomatoes)
  5. Place bacon on 1/2 the slices
  6. Place the pieces without bacon on top of the bacon topped slices
  7. Cut in half and eat immediately!

So - a little about me. I'm Jane Frank, and I love to cook! I am a self taught cook, and very very much enjoy experimenting with new foods and cooking with fresh produce. I'm a widow, with a 16 year old daughter. She's a bit of a foodie, too, and she helps me cook and taste - and give her opinion! She takes a lot of my pictures for me - as my hands are full most of the time. Or else they are too dirty to pick up the camera! Enjoy the blog, please give feedback, and give me some hints about what you'd like to see on here! Happy Cooking!
